Nordic Semiconductor Partners with SechangSemicon to Accelerate Expansion into Korea

(Business News & Technology News, 30 Sep 2008)

In line with its aim to accelerate expansion into the Korean market, Nordic Semiconductor ASA has appointed SechangSemicon Co. Ltd as its distributor. SechangSemicon, founded in December 1997 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, has a strong focus on field application engineering support. SechangSemicon has employed two additional Field Sales Engineers and one additional Field Application Engineer specifically to service the Nordic account.

"We are pleased to add Nordic Semiconductor's range of 2.4GHz ISM band transceivers to our portfolio. Products such as the nRF24LE1, nRF24L01+ and nRF24AP1 are the leading transceivers in their class," says Robert Ko, SechangSemicon's CEO. "Nordic's emphasis on complete solutions including silicon, application specific software, development tools and reference designs make it easier for inexperienced RF engineers to embrace ultra-low power wireless connectivity. Nordic's expertise and our applications engineering experience form a winning combination for innovative Korean engineers looking to add ultra-low power wireless links to their products."

"By appointing SechangSemicon as our Korean distributor we have significantly strengthened our sales and support operations in the region," says Sean Choi, Nordic Semiconductor's Regional Sales Manager - Korea. "The company's previous wireless experience will enable them to rapidly establish Nordic as the leading 2.4GHz ULP wireless connectivity solution provider in Korea."

"Nordic is already making significant inroads into the competitive Korean market. With the recent release of our new flagship product, the nRF24LE1 2.4GHz transceiver—integrating radio core, 8-bit MCU and flash memory into a 4x4mm chip—and the backing of SechangSemicon's sales efforts and expertise, we anticipate good growth," concludes Choi.
